The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our product team in supporting the development, validation and continuous improvement of automotive suspension, steering and braking products at Pedders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development and continuous improvement of suspension, steering, braking and related automotive products from concept through to production.
  • Create, modify and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, BOMs and technical documentation using SolidWorks, AutoCAD and approved engineering systems.
  • Conduct engineering assessments, design reviews, reverse engineering activities and technical investigations to support product quality, fitment, durability and performance outcomes.
  • Assist with prototype assembly, vehicle fitment, product validation and testing programs, including ride, handling, dynamic assessments and occasional offsite development activities.
  • Collect, analyse and report engineering test data, while developing capability in engineering tools and methodologies such as FEA, 3D scanning and data acquisition systems.
  • Collaborate with product teams, suppliers, workshop personnel and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues, support product development and ensure successful product introduction.
  • Review and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, supplier documentation and revision-controlled records in accordance with company standards and design-for-manufacture principles.
  • Follow established engineering, quality and product development processes while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, technical reporting, knowledge sharing and professional development.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Degree-qualified (or nearing completion) in Mechanical, Automotive or a related Engineering discipline, with automotive, manufacturing, product development or design experience highly regarded.
  • Experience with 3D CAD and engineering drawings (SolidWorks preferred), including an understanding of GD&T, drafting standards and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of engineering testing, analysis and problem-solving, with exposure to FEA, 3D scanning, reverse engineering or data acquisition viewed favourably.
  • Hands-on passion for vehicles, suspension, braking systems, motorsport or automotive modification, with a willingness to support workshop, fitment and testing activities.
  • Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, suppliers, technicians and product teams.
  • Proactive, adaptable and eager to learn with flexibility to travel for offsite vehicle testing and drive programs.
  • Strong competency in the Microsoft Office suite
