Drama Club Assistant Director/ Choreographer (Grades 5-6)

Position Summary: The Drama Club Assistant Director/ Choreographer (Grades 5-6) will support the 5th- and 6th-grade Drama Club, fostering students' creativity, confidence, and collaboration through the production of a musical performance. This position will assist in facilitating rehearsals/productions and coordinating with the PTO and parent volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- Supports Director with conducting rehearsals twice a week after school (2 hours each) and supervise students, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Collaborates with Director teaching students acting, movement, voice, and stage presence while providing feedback and encouragement to foster skill development and teamwork.
- Collaborates with the Director about blocking and movement.
- Collaborates with Director to communicate efficiently with PTO, parents, and student volunteers on sets, costumes, props, and calendars.
- Supports Director in leading and overseeing tech week of approximately 16 hours of rehearsals (spread over 4 days) leading up to the 2 performances.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Prior experience directing youth theater, teaching drama or voice, or leading performing arts activities.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of theater production elements (blocking, stage movement, basic technical theater), strong vocal ability, and proficiency in teaching children to sing.
- Experience engaging and managing middle school�age students with creativity, flexibility, and patience in working with young performers.
- Must pass required background checks.
Potential Showtimes:
- Option 1 - Start September 20, 2026 - Performance December 19-20, 2026 with after-school practices.
- Option 2 - Start November 6, 2026 - Performance February 13-14, 2027 with after-school practices.
Compensation:
- Stipend Range: .026 of the base for Director ($1375.00). Additional compensation for the Assistant/Choreographer is available.
