Start your career in Tax & Legal
With offices in 18 locations across Finland and Estonia, we are looking for Tax & Legal Trainees to join our teams in Helsinki, Turku, Lahti, or Oulu. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of assignments. Trainee opportunities are available in areas such as M&A Tax, M&A Legal, Corporate Tax, International Tax, Tax Compliance (Pillar 2, IAS 12 Reporting), Legal Services, People Services, VAT, Tax & Legal Technology, and Tax Transformation. In your cover letter, please indicate which areas interest you most. Depending on your interests and business needs, your role may combine several areas and involve a variety of tasks.
You will become part of KPMG’s Tax & Legal practice, working alongside leading experts in business law and taxation. You will join a team of more than 250 professionals across Finland and Estonia and collaborate with colleagues both locally and globally.
The trainee period will take place during spring 2027. Many of our trainees continue their careers with us, so this could be your first step toward a long-term career at KPMG.
As a Tax & Legal Trainee you will
Depending on your background and interests, your role may include a mix of the following:
- Handling a wide range of legal assignments for our clients and supporting them in legal matters
- Supporting corporate transactions, restructurings, and M&A processes from planning through execution
- Working on assignments related to real estate law, data privacy, and family wealth planning
- Managing a broad range of tax assignments for corporate clients, including advance tax rulings, tax appeals, and tax return matters
- Working with global mobility clients, handling a variety of tax-related queries, assisting with individual tax returns, and supporting personal tax matters and global mobility processes.
- Supporting multinational clients with transfer pricing and international tax matters, including transfer pricing documentation, benchmarking analyses, value chain assessments, and business transformation projects.

What we’re looking for
- You are a university student, typically in your third to fifth year, or a recent graduate
- For Legal roles, you are studying law or have recently completed an LL.M.
- For Tax roles, you have relevant studies in taxation, law, or business
- You have strong written and spoken English skills; some roles also require fluency in Finnish
- You are interested in business-oriented advisory work
- Previous relevant experience is an advantage, but not a requirement
- Most importantly, you bring a proactive, curious, and positive attitude

- In the first stage, applicants will complete online assessments including verbal and numerical reasoning tests. Assessment invitations will be sent by email after the application period closes on Monday, September 21, 2026, and the assessment must be completed by Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Please reserve approximately 30 minutes to complete the assessment during the period from September 21 to September 23, 2026.
- Following the assessment, candidates who progress to the next stage will be invited to interviews. Detailed instructions will be provided separately to those invited for an interview.
