Please note: The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience as follows:

If the position is filled at the Therapist I, Grade 23, the salary range at hire is $78,929 - $105,089.

If the position is filled at the Therapist II, Grade 24, the salary range at hire is $82,352 - $121,957.

This is a term position budgeted through June 30, 2027. Continued employment beyond this date is subject to continuation of funding and is not guaranteed.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

BHCS, Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Services (CABHS) in Silver Spring is currently recruiting for a compassionate, empathetic and professional term therapist to make a meaningful impact in the lives of underserved individuals and families.

Examples of duties

CABHS provides individual and family therapy as well as clinical case management for children, adolescents and families who are uninsured or have Medical Assistance.

• As a therapist at CABHS, you will provide individual, group, family and school-based services to clients who experience barriers to accessing mental health and substance use services.

• Sessions will be conducted in person and via telehealth platforms in the clinic and in school settings.

• You will have knowledge and experience working with individuals with a wide variety of mental health and substance use issues.

• You will also work closely with a passionate and diverse team and collaborate with internal and external partners. Our work is rooted in respect, and we value therapists who are dedicated to fostering positive change.

The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, medical exam, and drug screening.

Qualifications

Therapist I Level:

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in clinical or counselling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related Behavioral science field.

Experience: None

Equivalency: None

License Requirement:

One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held prior to appointment, and maintained by, the employee:

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).

Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC); or

Licensed Graduate Marriage and Family Therapist (LGMFT).

Driver’s License Required: Possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license issued by the candidate’s state of residence.

Therapist II Level:

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related behavioral science field.

Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience rendering therapeutic counseling, social work, nursing or psychology services, as pertinent to one’s professional licensing.

Equivalency: None.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:

One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held prior to appointment of, and maintained by, the employee:

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC);

Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy (LCMFT);

Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC);

Licensed Certified Social Worker/Clinical (LCSW-C);

Licensed Registered Nurse in the United States, certified as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland; or

Licensed Psychologist

Driver’s License Required: Possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license issued by the candidate’s state of residence.

Supplemental information

Preference for interview will be given to qualified candidates will experience in the following areas:

• Demonstrated experience providing individual, family and group therapy.
• Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience providing services for individuals experiencing trauma, substance use, self-injury, crisis/safety assessment.
• Experience working with, collaborating, or coordinating services with partner agencies (i.e., DJS, CWS, MCPS)
• Experience providing therapy off site (school/community/telehealth)
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practices: Motivational Interviewing, TF-CBT, etc.
• Multilingual Preferred in Spanish
