Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Department of Biological Sciences

The Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University is seeking talented individuals for a full-time, 12-month Postdoctoral Research Fellow position starting from January 15th 2027. This is a non-tenure track position. The major responsibilities of the postdoctoral fellow are to carry out developmental and single-nuclei transcriptomic analyses, develop and implement high-throughput transcription factor mapping methods in our systems, and utilize CRISPR-based gene editing to characterize genes of interest. The postdoctoral fellow will also oversee and mentor graduate and undergraduate research in the lab.

About the PI Lab:

The CapituLab at Clemson focuses on understanding molecular mechanisms underlying evolution and development in the sunflower family (Asteraceae). The lab’s interests span across diverse fields of plant biology. These include molecular and developmental biology, genomics, genetics, microscopy and comparative anatomy/morphology. We are a training focused lab centered around expanding skillsets of the members of our group as well as toolkits for the broader plant functional genetic community.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field. Candidates must also have a documented record of excellence in molecular research.

• The ideal candidate will have experience in advanced plant molecular and developmental biology techniques

• Experience in computational analyses with relevant basic programming language knowledge (i.e. command line, R, python, etc)

• Preferred: experience in plant single nuclei transcriptomics

• Possess a passion for teaching and managing students at the bench
