Applications Engineering, Staff Engineer

  • Synopsys
  • Seoul, South Korea
  • KRW 90,000,000 – KRW 130,000,000

We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have spent years watching engineering organizations struggle with the same problem: brilliant materials data trapped in spreadsheets, siloed databases, and someone's hard drive. You know that the difference between a product that ships on time and one that stalls in qualification is often a materials property that three different teams recorded three different ways. You have learned that solving this is not a software problem, it is a workflow problem, a trust problem, and a change management problem wrapped in technical architecture.

You are comfortable sitting with a materials engineer who has been doing things a certain way for fifteen years and walking out with a plan they actually believe in. You do not need a perfect requirements document to get started. You ask the right questions, map the data flows, identify the integration points, and build a path forward that works in the real world, not just on a whitboard.

You think in systems. You see how MIM connects to PLM, how simulation depends on curated data, and how a single source of truth changes what an organization can do. At Synopsys, you will work with customers solving these problems at scale, and the solutions you build will actually get used.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Serve as the senior technical expert on Material Information Management implementations, guiding customers through deployment, integration, and adoption across their engineering environments
  • Work directly with engineering, IT, and product development teams to integrate materials data platforms with PLM systems like Teamcenter or Windchill, CAE tools, and enterprise databases
  • Translate complex data architecture and workflow challenges into clear, actionable recommendations for both hands-on engineers and C-level stakeholders
  • Lead technical workshops, live demonstrations, and strategy sessions that build customer confidence and drive real adoption of materials data best practices
  • Partner with product management and development teams to influence the MIM product roadmap based on what you are seeing in the field, real integration pain points, usability gaps, and customer workflow needs
  • Mentor applications engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing, implementation playbooks, and continuous improvement of delivery methods
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues across materials data systems, API integrations, and cross-platform workflows in live customer environments

The Impact You Will Have

  • Enable global engineering organizations to standardize and scale materials data management across regions, business units, and product lines
  • Reduce costly engineering delays and qualification failures by improving data quality, traceability, and accessibility at the point of decision
  • Accelerate time to market by connecting materials data directly to simulation, testing, and design workflows so teams stop waiting for the right number
  • Position materials information as a strategic asset within digital engineering transformations, not just a compliance checkbox
  • Build long-term customer relationships rooted in trust, credibility, and measurable technical outcomes that make their jobs easier
  • Shape the future direction of MIM capabilities by feeding real-world customer needs back into product strategy and development priorities
  • Strengthen the technical capability of the broader team through mentorship, documentation, and shared learning from complex deployments

What You'll Need

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in engineering software, technical consulting, or engineering roles where you worked directly with product development processes and data systems
  • Deep understanding of how data flows across the engineering lifecycle, from early research and testing through simulation, qualification, and production
  • Direct experience with Material Information Management platforms or enterprise materials data management systems, including deployment, integration, or administration
  • Working knowledge of engineering data management, PLM integration workflows, or digital engineering transformation projects
  • Familiarity with database systems, data modeling concepts, and API-based integrations, you do not need to write production code but you need to understand how systems talk to each other
  • Experience with CAE tools, PLM platforms like Teamcenter, Windchill, or 3DEXPERIENCE, or materials data management software is a strong plus
  • Exposure to agile or iterative project delivery methodologies is a plus

Who You Are

  • You can walk into a room with a VP of Engineering and a database administrator and make both of them feel heard and understood, then walk out with a plan that works for both
  • You are self-driven and highly organized, managing multiple customer engagements, internal projects, and priorities without dropping threads or losing context
  • You push back when a customer request does not align with best practice, and you do it in a way that builds trust rather than defensiveness
  • Curiosity drives you, you want to understand why a workflow exists before you suggest changing it, and you genuinely care about making engineering teams more effective
  • You are a mentor and a role model, the kind of engineer who makes the people around you better by sharing what you know and asking questions that make them think differently
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and dynamic environments, you do not wait for perfect information, you move with what you have and adjust as you learn

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will be part of the Material Information Management team within Ansys, now part of Synopsys. This team works at the center of digital engineering transformation, partnering with customers across aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, and other industries to modernize how they manage, share, and leverage materials data. The team is global, customer-facing, and deeply technical, and the work you do will directly influence how engineering organizations treat materials data as a strategic asset rather than a compliance afterthought.

Rewards and Benefits

We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
