Financial Controller

Role Overview:

A hands-on senior finance/accounting role responsible for the full bookkeeping, accounting, financial reporting, cash flow, working capital, inventory controls and internal controls of the Group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the complete bookkeeping and accounting function, including GL, AP, AR, journals, accruals and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheets, cash-flow reports and annual financial information.
• Manage cash flow, debtor collections, creditor payments and working capital.
• Oversee inventory accounting, costing, valuation and reconciliations.
• Ensure proper financial controls across purchasing, inventory, sales, invoicing, collections and settlements.
• Develop and improve financial processes, policies, approval procedures and internal controls.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Liaise with auditors, tax advisers, banks and external service providers.
• Provide management with accurate financial information and advice on financial risks and business performance.
• Help centralise and strengthen the Group's finance and reporting function as it grows.

Requirements

• Fully qualified or part-qualified accountant, preferably ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Strong practical experience in bookkeeping, financial accounting, management accounting or financial control.
• Ideally experienced at Senior Accountant, Assistant Financial Controller or Financial Controller level.
• Strong knowledge of AR, AP, cash flow, working capital and reconciliations.
• Experience with management accounts and annual financial reporting.
• Inventory, trading, distribution or other operational business experience is advantageous.
• Experience with multiple entities/group structures, internal controls and process improvement is beneficial.
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Must be practical, independent, dependable and commercially minded, with a willingness to remain hands-on with transactional finance.
