PURPOSE
Responsible for overseeing financial accounting and reporting activities for the NBL Group, ensuring the accurate preparation of monthly, bi-annual, and annual financial reports, as well as annual financial statements. This role includes a comprehensive review of both financial and non-financial information. Additionally, this individual is accountable for cultivating and enhancing all business relationships pertinent to the Record to Report (RTR) function.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with post-articles experience considered advantageous.
- Proven experience in financial consolidations and preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Sound knowledge of taxation, including preparation of tax computations and submission of tax returns.
- Experience resolving intercompany accounting matters across multiple entities.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
- Up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, and tax legislation.
- Advanced proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- FMCG industry experience will be an added advantage.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead and manage the end-to-end financial reporting process, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of monthly, interim, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
- Own and coordinate Group financial consolidations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and consistency of financial information across all entities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the Namibia Stock Exchange (NSX), auditors, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders to support reporting and compliance objectives.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to Heineken Global and other relevant stakeholders, fostering strong collaboration and alignment with reporting requirements.
- Drive a cost-conscious culture by identifying opportunities to improve financial efficiency, optimise processes, and strengthen financial performance.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the Record-to-Report (RTR) function, implementing lean accounting practices and enhancing process effectiveness.
- Evaluate and manage the Group’s tax position, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations while identifying opportunities to optimise tax outcomes.
- Coordinate and support the preparation of the Integrated Annual Report, ensuring accurate reporting of both financial and non-financial performance indicators.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate accounting policies, technical accounting positions, and financial reporting guidance in line with regulatory and business requirements.
- Drive efficient and effective intercompany reporting and reconciliation processes, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and timely resolution of intercompany balances.
- Support internal and external audit processes, ensuring timely resolution of findings and implementation of corrective actions.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and business performance.
