The Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the Aga Khan University is dedicated to providing cutting-edge clinical services to children. We offer high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate training, including subspecialty training and research opportunities. Our inpatient facilities feature a Paediatric ward with two units totaling 84 beds and a state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit (Neonatal/Paediatric & Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care units) equipped with the latest technologies and protocols. Additionally, our Paediatric Cardiology section offers a recognized three-year Fellowship training program accredited by CPSP.
This is a grant funded contractual position.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible to:
- lead the statistical design, analysis, and interpretation of data across multiple research projects using statistical software such as STATA, R and/or Python
- facilitate regular teaching sessions and hands-on workshops in biostatistics, epidemiology, research methods, and statistical software (e.g., STATA, R) for faculty, residents, and fellows
- provide one-on-one and group consultation sessions to support residents, fellows and faculty in designing studies, writing protocols, and analyzing research data
- design and deliver academic training sessions tailored to the statistical needs of ongoing institutional and collaborative projects
- assist senior faculty in peer reviewing research manuscripts, grant proposals, and other scholarly submissions
- communicate with journals, collaborators, and the University Research Office regarding statistical content in proposals submissions and grant applications
- oversee data management processes, including data cleaning, data mining, and generation of statistical reports for manuscripts and research projects
- actively participate in and take the initiative to organize research-related activities, including academic seminars, research symposia, journal clubs, and institutional conferences
- encourage staff participation in research training programs, academic workshops, and skill development initiatives
- promote discipline, punctuality, and professional conduct among research teams, ensuring a productive and respectful work environment.
Requirements:
You should have:
- a Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science or a related field from an HEC-recognised institution or an equivalent qualification from a reputable foreign university
- at least three years of relevant experience at management level, preferably in healthcare or research organisation of good repute
- experience with RedCap, electronic data capture systems, and reproducible research workflows (e.g., Git/GitHub)
- knowledge of clinical trials, observational studies, or epidemiological research
- strong statistical and analytical skills, with the ability to use statistical software such as STATA, Python, or R programmes
- relevant research publications in reputable journals will be preferred
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary research teams
- proficiency in Microsoft Office, EndNote, and other relevant research software
- ideas and information in clear and meaningful form to various stakeholders
- excellent ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet stringent deadlines.
