Senior Electrical Engineer

  • Position Overview

The Senior Electrical Engineer reports to the Technical Manager and supports the operations team as a subject matter expert for facility electrical systems. You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical systems vital for reliable and efficient operation of the infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Maintenance & Risk Management

  • Ensure effectiveness of critical technical maintenance activities associated with high-voltage (HT) and low-voltage (LT) electrical systems to reduce operational risk in accordance with the Maintenance Operating Procedure (MOP)
  • Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP), and MOP for all critical facility equipment and activities

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure facility compliance with all legislation, codes of practice, compliance codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Act as Change Management advocate, ensuring all change requests are followed up and closed timely

Design & System Improvement

  • Involve in design, modification, and improvement of electrical systems including specification, installation, setup, extension, relocation, and new building requirements
  • Lead incident investigation with shift team, follow-up actions, and submission of interim and final reports to senior management
  • Execute Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for problem management to improve system uptime, availability, and productivity on critical equipment

Performance Monitoring & Optimization

  • Conduct capacity tracking and utilization trending with proactive monitoring and optimization
  • Initiate and execute energy efficiency programs and cost-saving measures
  • Identify parameters in Building Management System (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system for data analysis to improve critical equipment reliability and efficiency
  • Conduct alarm trending and data analysis to identify operational improvement opportunities

Sustainability & Certification

  • Support Green Building Data Center certification requirements and ensure electrical systems comply with sustainability standards

Training & Development

  • Support training and skill development to upskill the critical operations team and shift crews
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing among colleagues on site and across other facilities

Major Activities & Oversight

  • Support and coordinate major activities including annual shutdowns, electrical discrimination studies, UPS battery replacements, UPS overhauls, and equipment failure exercises
  • Assist operations team with troubleshooting electrical failures and coordinate with equipment vendors for resolution
  • Participate in review and approval committees for Permits-to-Work (PTW), Method of Statements (MOS), and Risk Assessments (RA)

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in electrical design and/or electrical engineering, with focus on data center or critical infrastructure operations

Technical Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, BMS, and CMMS/DCIM systems
  • Strong ability to articulate and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
