Job Summary
This role leads on-site operational, team, and vendor management, with overall responsibility for site facility management (O&M), finance, HSE, and procurement. The primary purpose is to ensure excellence in preventative and reactive maintenance programs, statutory compliance, and the effective management of all plant, mechanical, and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and direct multi-skilled Engineering Operations teams, including directly employed staff and vendors.
- Ensure strict adherence to client and company policies and procedures by all staff and vendors within facilities.
- Serve as an escalation point for critical failures, assisting the technical team with safety, identification, analysis, rectification, and improvement reporting.
- Implement operational standards, procedures, preventive/planned maintenance programs, repair/replacement initiatives, and helpdesk management.
- Manage both hard and soft service operations, ensuring implementation of agreed procedures and standards.
- Oversee all site repair and maintenance by subcontractors to ensure work completion, quality, and compliance with specifications and ordinances.
- Monitor, measure, and report on specialist contractor performance against agreed contractual budgets.
- Coordinate periodic meetings with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to maintain standards and develop corrective action plans for underperformance.
- Ensure maintenance documentation meets required standards for effective asset management.
- Assist the client with statutory compliance requirements and certifications for the site.
Requirements
- Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP).
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Operational Engineering.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in engineering or critical environment space.
- 2-3 years' experience in operating electrical and mechanical services in a Tier III or equivalent data center/critical facility.
- Competent and experienced in data center and/or critical environment maintenance and operations.
- Hands-on experience and knowledge in M&E and building-related systems (e.g., CRAU, chillers, PDU, UPS, Switch Gears Ops, DX cooling, network structured cabling, security).
- Competent in undertaking Job Hazards Analysis (JHA).
- Excellent people skills and ability to interact with diverse client and vendor staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing or business justification.
- Sound computer skills in Windows-based operating systems; AutoCAD skills are an advantage.
- 5-8 years of experience managing people and operations/technical aspects, preferably in a Data Center environment.
- Recent hands-on experience is preferred.
