The CNC Fitter is responsible for setting up, operating, and supporting CNC machining processes to produce precision components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions. The role requires strong hands-on fitting and machining skills, with responsibility for ensuring accurate dimensions, proper tooling, machine performance, and consistent product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC milling and turning machines according to work instructions, tooling requirements, and production schedules.
- Perform machine setup, tool selection, workpiece loading, tool changes, and basic tool offset adjustments.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and machining specifications.
- Perform fitting, deburring, adjustment, and finishing of machined components to achieve required specifications.
- Measure and inspect components using vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Verify dimensional accuracy, tolerances, and surface finish before releasing parts for the next process.
- Identify and troubleshoot basic machining issues such as dimensional variation, tool wear, poor surface finish, and machine abnormalities.
- Monitor tooling condition and replace or report worn/damaged cutting tools as required.
- Perform routine machine checks, basic preventive maintenance, and housekeeping.
- Work closely with Supervisors, CNC Programmers, Engineers, and Quality Inspectors to resolve machining and fitting issues.
- Follow engineering drawings, SOPs, work instructions, quality requirements, and safety procedures.
- Maintain good 5S standards and ensure the work area, machines, tools, and equipment are clean and organized.
- Support production targets and other machining/fitting activities as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum SPM or equivalent technical qualification.
- Preferably 1–3 years of hands-on CNC machining/fitting experience.
- Experience operating CNC milling and/or CNC turning machines.
- Able to perform basic CNC machine setup and tooling changes.
- Able to read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and basic GD&T.
- Proficient in using vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Basic knowledge of cutting tools, tooling selection, tool wear, and machining processes.
- Good understanding of basic CNC machine controls and operating procedures.
- Able to perform basic fitting activities such as deburring, filing, adjustment, and component finishing.
- Good mechanical aptitude, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to dimensional accuracy and product quality.
- Able to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Willing to work shifts and overtime when required.
