Discover the Role

Join us as a Manager, HR & Payroll and play a pivotal role in leading payroll operations, driving team performance, and delivering exceptional client service. You will oversee end-to-end payroll processes, ensure compliance with Malaysian payroll, taxation, and statutory regulations, and manage a team to achieve operational excellence and business targets. This role requires a hands-on leader who can successfully manage client relationships, resolve escalations, support new client onboarding, and continuously improve service delivery. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure team's revenue, profitability, productivity and KPI targets are achieved.
  • Drive operational excellence and ensure accurate, timely and compliant payroll delivery.
  • Monitor team productivity and service performance, proactively identifying opportunities for efficiency improvement, automation and service enhancement.
  • Handle complex client escalations and act as the senior point of contact for key client relationships.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, global compliance standards, payroll processes and statutory requirements.
  • Lead onboarding of new clients and implementation of new services to ensure smooth and successful go-live.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Conduct regular client service reviews and identify opportunities to enhance client experience, retention and service expansion.
  • Support business development activities including client presentations, RFP/RFI responses, solutioning discussions and proposal preparation.
  • Partner with management to identify business growth opportunities, cross-selling initiatives and strategic accounts.
  • Analyse operational, financial and client metrics to support informed decision-making and business performance.
  • Coach, mentor and develop team members to strengthen technical capability, client management skills and future leadership readiness.
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing, revenue recognition and management of client profitability.
  • Champion continuous improvement, process simplification and digital transformation initiatives within the department.

Key Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree / Professional Qualification, preferably in Human Resources, Business, Accounting or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 6-8 years of HR and Payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysia payroll legislation, taxation, labour laws and statutory requirements.
  • Payroll outsourcing experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong technical payroll expertise with the ability to advise and support the team on complex payroll matters.
  • Proven experience managing client escalations, stakeholder expectations and service delivery challenges.
  • Commercially minded with a good understanding of revenue, profitability, productivity and client retention drivers.
  • Experience supporting client solutioning, proposals, RFP/RFI responses or business development initiatives would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate operational insights into business actions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven people management experience with the ability to coach, develop and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Proactive, adaptable, well-organised and able to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading process improvement, transformation or automation initiatives would be an added advantage.
