The Department of Psychology at Indiana University South Bend is seeking to fill the position of Lecturer in Psychology. The candidate must be able and willing to teach Introductory Psychology and undergraduate courses related to methodology (e.g., research methods, statistics, non-experimental design, and APA style writing.) The area of specialization is open. The teaching load is the equivalent of 12 credit hours of undergraduate coursework each semester (fall and spring). Summer teaching is voluntary and compensated separately. Lecturers are expected to participate in service activities to the department, school, campus, or community, such as regularly attending and participating in faculty meetings and serving on relevant committees. This position does not carry expectations for a research program or publications.

The Psychology Department at IU South Bend offers a BA degree. The departmental mission balances traditional and innovative approaches while merging technical skills with conceptual and critical understanding. We educate students about the power of psychology to inform and affect society.

Basic Qualifications

Required Basic Qualifications:

  • MA degree in Psychology by the time of appointment is required, with specialization area open.
  • Willingness and availability to teach in-person format.

Preferred Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives.
  • Demonstrated effective teaching and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with commonly used analytical tools (e.g., SPSS, Excel, R, Qualtrics, NVivo, and/or similar platforms).
  • Ability to teach courses such as developmental, industrial/organizational, introductory, data science, ABA, community psychology, or emerging areas.
  • Ph.D. in Psychology
