Summary

The Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking an energetic and dynamic individual to provide high-level customer service at the Pat White Center at Ben Lomond. This facility is a demanding, fast-paced, multi-tasking environment that supports Gro James S. Long Park, Silver Lake Regional Park, Nokesville Park, and Rollins Ford Park programs and rentals. Interested candidates must be highly motivated and self-directed but able to work within a team structure.

Various duties include: directly engaging customers, providing clear and accurate information (that changes regularly) across all program departments in response to customer inquiries both in-person and over the phone, processing program registrations and transactions, handling cash, generating reports, and other clerical duties as needed for daily center operations. This is a part-time non-benefitted position and requires flexibility. The work schedule includes Monday-Friday 3:00pm-6:00pm and Saturday 8:30am-12:30pm or 8:30am-1:30pm, but may vary to include mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D

Starting Salary:$17.99 per hour

The Department of Parks and Recreation conducts criminal background and DMV checks on all new hires 18 years of age and older. Fingerprinting may be required.

Examples of duties

NATURE OF WORK
Incumbents perform routine office support or customer service functions following established and specified procedures. Responsibilities may include faxing and copying documents; performing data entry; reviewing calendars to schedule appointments; reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness; and answering phones and routing calls. Incumbents perform standardized work following prescribed procedures and instructions.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This position is dedicated to performing customer service and office support functions. Work is performed in accordance with set procedures and guidelines, and deviation from those guidelines require approval.

TYPICAL CLASS RESPONSIBILITIES (These responsibilities are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.

  1. Responds to requests for information from the general public, staff, and/or other interested parties; answers routine questions; directs callers/visitors to appropriate locations or staff.
  2. Prepares, reviews, and/or processes a variety of routine correspondence, logs, information, paperwork, invoices, forms, and/or other related information to ensure accuracy and completeness; keys information into applicable spreadsheets and/or databases.
  3. Receives, sorts, and distributes a variety of correspondence, deliveries, and mail.
  4. Files documents alphabetically, numerically, or by other prescribed methods in established filing systems; makes photocopies; and faxes documents.
  5. Reviews calendars and schedules appointments and/or meetings.
  6. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Supplemental information

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 0-12 months of related experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
