Territory Director

The Territory Director provides leadership for the supply chain operations within an assigned area of the distribution network. This position is accountable for achieving company objectives, performance standards, and operating expense goals at multiple distribution centers within a defined geographical territory within North America. The incumbent is responsible for the overall servicing of customers within the territory, as well as the overall management and performance of the warehouse facilities within the region including warehouse operations, customer relations, quality, safety, and security.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Develops and directs all Managers to ensure efficient and cost-effective warehouse operations.
  • Oversees all distribution services including receiving, storing, shipping, handling returned/damaged product, and administrative duties to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Develops and executes account planning strategies to increase sales by maintaining or growing existing business as well as capitalizing on new business.
  • Accountable to achieve all metrics associated with each warehouse facility; directs the operations of warehouse managers to achieve prescribed objectives.
  • Recruits, hires, and trains a productive warehouse management team; matches the skill and background of candidates to the work required.
  • Monitors space layout plan at each warehouse to ensure it continues to meet company standards.
  • Directs programs to ensure the safety of all employees, equipment, and property.
  • Monitor the safety performance of the warehouse facilities to ensure all work-related injuries are immediately reported in compliance with EH&S processes.
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate government regulations.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with all customers.
  • Audits operations to ensure service and safety standards are being met.
  • Ensure accurate inventory control for product.
  • Ensure the security of the warehouse facilities.
  • Participates in Labor contract negotiations as requested.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:   

  • BS Degree required and at least five (5) years in a regional distribution leadership role.
  • A strong background in warehouse operations.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse and transportation management systems.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate within the organization and business units throughout the company, and with partners across the supply chain.
  • Must value diversity and exhibit a leadership style that creates a cohesive team environment.
  • Must be successful in managing effective deployment of resources to achieve organizational objectives.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Based out of the incumbent's home office, the Regional Distribution Director is required to travel up to 70% of the time, and during travel is exposed to an industrial warehouse and customer environment which may include working near moving mechanical machinery with a high noise level and hot and cold climate based on weather.
  • Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary, but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, and very occasionally lifting or carrying objects that weigh up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Certification Desired.
