DEPARTMENT: PROCESSING-SMELTERS
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, SANAS requirements, environmental obligations and laboratory safety management systems while providing assurance over contractors, occupational hygiene, chemical safety, access control, incident management and SHEQ performance reporting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12/NQF level 4 qualification is essential
Safety Management/Environmental Health/Occupational Hygiene National Diploma/Degree is essential
SAMTRAC is essential
COSMOC Level 1 and 2 is essential
Risk Assessment Training is essential
Incident Investigation (ICAM or RCAT) is essential
1-3 years' work experience in laboratory/mining/processing environment is essential
COMPETENCIES:
SAP knowledge
Good communication skills (Fluent in English)
Excellent Excel, MS Word & PowerPoint skills (Level 3)
Report writing & minute taking skills
Analytical skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures compliance with OHS Act and Regulations.
Coordinates legal appointments.
Conducts compliance audits.
Monitors corrective actions.
Facilitates Department of Employment and Labour inspections.
Chemical Safety Management: HF management, Lead oxide monitoring, Compressed gas management, Chemical storage inspections, SDS management and Chemical risk assessments.
Occupational Hygiene: Air quality monitoring, Ventilation effectiveness, Lead exposure monitoring, Noise surveys, Illumination surveys, Heat stress monitoring.
Laboratory Contractor Management.
Safety Systems Administration.
Incident Management.
Environmental Management.
Emergency Preparedness.
Assurance and Reporting.
