Workshop Technician - Leeds

Are you interested in Water Quality Monitoring and instrumentation? This could be your opportunity to join SOCOTEC as a Workshop Technician, playing a vital role in ensuring our water quality monitoring equipment is serviced, calibrated, tested and ready to support critical field operations.

We’re looking for a proactive, reliable and adaptable Workshop Technician to join our Water Quality team in Leeds. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively, using strong practical skills, attention to detail and problem-solving abilities to maintain and prepare water quality sensors and instrumentation. An interest in sensor technology, confidence using IT systems and a commitment to working safely and efficiently are essential, alongside a full UK driving license and flexibility to occasionally work away from base when required.

The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):

  • Servicing, repairing, testing, calibrating and maintaining water quality monitoring equipment and sensors.
  • Preparing, cleaning and deploying water quality instrumentation, ensuring equipment is fully operational and ready for field use.
  • Managing equipment availability through battery maintenance, stock control and asset tracking using internal IT systems.
  • Supporting safe and efficient operations by following health and safety procedures and adapting to changing project and field team requirements.

Qualifications

To be a successful Workshop Technician, you should be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong practical skills, attention to detail and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • An interest in water quality instrumentation, with the ability to follow calibration procedures accurately.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive, adaptable approach to meeting deadlines.
  • Confidence using IT systems, a commitment to safe working practices, and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • A full UK driving license and flexibility to occasionally work away from base, including overnight stays when required.
