Wood is recruiting for a Senior Control & Automation Engineer to join its Projects team focusing on delivering across FEED and Detail design scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible to execute the activities and processes associated with Instrument and Automation Engineering at NGLE Project, under TL scope. Apply and expand hands-on experience in Engineering, Procurement, Construction, commissioning and Operation in Oil and Gas industry. Responsible for supporting and executing general engineering activities directly linked to Mechanical engineering.

Position is based in Muscat, Oman for duration of one year

Typical responsibilities

  • To contribute to the development of optimal business strategies during project execution and ensure the satisfactory execution of NGLE Project by achieving the project’s technical quality requirements within agreed budgets and schedules.
  • Instrument and Automation Engineering experience in downstream based petrochemical industry.
  • Instrument and Automation Engineering design experience into different project phases (FEED and EPC).
  • Lead the Instrument & Control Engineering technical detailed design scope to bring out the best strategies and approaches to deliver the technical requirements.
  • Ensure that design methods, standards and data used conform to Asset Owners requirements and/or those issued by Centre of Excellence.
  • Ensure the preparation of Instrument & Control and Operations Philosophy document incorporating user requirements.
  • Be responsible for the coordination, execution and progress of Instrument & Control Engineering design under the supervision of the Lead Engineering.
  • Be responsible for technical accuracy, quality and economy of Instrument & Control engineering applications design.
  • Liaise with Vendor’s representatives and other functions on all matters relating to Instrument & Control design and execution.
  • Review Instrument & Control Engineering Deliverables and participate in project reviews and workshops.
  • Participate in solving Instrument & Control engineering challenges that are recognised during development of the Front End Package or detailed engineering
  • Identify gaps in existing practices and tools and manage the process of developing new practices or toolkit items that enhance OQ technological offering.
  • Review Control and Instrument Systems Engineering Deliverables and provide comments to Contractor.
  • Review and provide comments to Contractor Engineering Deliverables and ensure that HAZOP and SIL Reviews actions are addressed.
  • Review Control & Instrument Systems Equipment Layout Drawings and ensure that Architectural and Buildings Layout Drawings consider, future sparing and operation & maintenance requirements.
  • Review and provide comments to the Bulk Materials Take-offs and Material Requisitions developed by the Contractor.
  • Develop Control & Instrument Systems Standardization Strategy and Vendor List and coordinate with OQ C0E. Develop Control & Instrument Equipment vendor lists for the EPC Package Tenders and evaluate EPC Tenderers submissions. Be the custodian for the Control & Instrument Equipment Vendor Lists throughout the EPC execution phase till the handover of the Facility to Operation & Maintenance.
  • Develop the Control and Instrument Integration Scope of Works and prepare position papers on potential integration & synergies.
  • Manage related contracts including progress, performance, HSSE and work qualify. This includes expediting material delivery and attending technical and commercial meetings with contractors.
  • Other duties as requested from time to time.

Experience:

  • 12+ years of relevant position
  • Engineering Degree in Instrumentation with relevant certification
  • Experience in refinery and petrochemical projects preferred
