Safety & Health Officer

HealthActiv is looking for an experienced, dynamic and proactive individual to join its team as Safety and Health Officer. The successful candidate will support HealthActiv’s occupational safety and health function across its offices, warehouses, pharmacies, field operations and biomedical equipment activities. The postholder will work closely with the Management and employees to maintain safe working environments, promote a strong safety culture, and support compliance with applicable occupational safety, health and radiation-safety requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure that HealthActiv’s occupational safety and health policies, procedures, rules and safe work practices are implemented, reviewed and communicated across all sites.
• Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments and safety audits, identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain safety and health records, inspection reports, risk-assessment documentation, training records, permits, registers and other compliance documents.
• Record inspection findings and recommendations and follow up on the timely implementation of corrective actions.
• Investigate accidents, injuries, near misses, unsafe conditions and dangerous occurrences; prepare reports and recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure that appropriate safety arrangements are in place for warehousing, storage, material handling, loading and unloading, equipment operation and the use of personal protective equipment.
• Coordinate safety inductions, toolbox talks, awareness sessions and refresher training, and ensure that training records are maintained.
• Support fire safety, first-aid arrangements, emergency preparedness, evacuation procedures and emergency drills.
• Assist the Management in reviewing safety performance, incident trends and improvement opportunities.
• Liaise with relevant regulatory authorities, emergency services, contractors and external stakeholders on occupational safety and health matters.
• Support the alignment of HealthActiv’s safety and health management practices with ISO 45001 principles as a guiding framework.
• Contribute to IBL Group safety and health maturity scorecard assessments and support the implementation of resulting improvement actions.
• Support employee wellbeing and workplace health initiatives.
• Support compliance with occupational safety, health and radiation safety requirements relating to the importation, storage, distribution and support of biomedical equipment, including X-ray and CT systems.
• Support the designated Radiation Safety Officer and technical teams in maintaining relevant licences, permits, records, safe-handling procedures and regulatory compliance.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Holder of the qualification prescribed under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2005 for practice as a registered Safety and Health Officer.
• At least three years of relevant experience in occupational safety and health.
• Sound knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2005, relevant regulations, risk assessment, incident investigation and emergency preparedness.
• Knowledge of radiation safety, ionising-radiation risks and regulatory compliance for biomedical equipment, including X-ray and CT systems, will be a strong advantage.
• Experience with radiation source licensing and import permits.,
• Proven ability to conduct workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments and safety training.
• Holder of a valid driving licence and willing to travel regularly between HealthActiv sites.
• Good communication, training and interpersonal skills.

• Strong reporting, organisational and follow-up skills.

• Ability to work independently and build positive safety behaviours among employees.

• Good analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• A proactive, detail-oriented and professional approach.
