This position is in the Labor, Trades, and Crafts(LTC) bargaining unit at a wage grade 54.

This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What You Will Be Doing:
AK Army National Guard is looking for a highly versatile and skilled Facilities Maintenance professional with broad hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex building systems. Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while applying industry-standard methods, safety practices, and maintenance techniques. Experienced in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, boilers and low-pressure steam, building automation/DDC controls, domestic water and sewage systems, hydronic systems, and general facility maintenance. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify system malfunctions, determine appropriate corrective actions, and restore equipment and building systems to reliable operating condition.

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access, which is required with this position's work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. Maintenance Generalist-Journey

This job class is part of a series of competency based class specifications created for career areas within the Labor, Trades, and Crafts Unit. The class specification identifies the levels of work and wage grades within the career area, the core and specific competencies of the career area, required work behaviors, certifications, and physical requirements.

Qualifications

Required documents due at the time of interview:

• If you are a current or former State of Alaska employee, provide your last two (2) performance evaluations or if you have never been employed with the State, please provide three (3) professional letters of recommendation if evaluations are unavailable.
• Three (3) professional references we may contact by phone (must include position titles, and your current supervisor and one former supervisor).
• This position is required to possess a valid State of Alaska driver’s license to perform job duties, obtain and maintain a current Common Access Card (CAC) for federal computer network access as required. Must obtain and maintain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) card for federal facility access.
• Must possess and maintain a Real ID upon requirement.
• Level I Procurement is required within the probationary period, training provided by the State of Alaska.
• First Aid/CPR certification is required within the probationary period,training provided by the State of Alaska.

Job Specific Requirements:

May travel to remote areas of the state to support the Department`s missions. DMVA is housed on the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson military base. The incumbent must be able to pass security check to access this federal military installation. Adherence to special security guidelines, protocol, etc. for Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson needs to be followed. Position may be exposed to pathogens (Hepatitis, Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)) for which vaccines and personal protective equipment are the most appropriate form of protection.
