Within Global Commercial Services (GCS) the Strategy & Transformation teams serve as critical drivers of US Small & Medium Enterprise growth initiatives, business oversight functions, and are an incubator for net new business development strategies. We're looking for Graduate level interns to support the Strategy & Transformation team.
How will you make an impact in this role?
As am intern you will collaborate across Enterprise teams—including the SME Executive Office, Account Development, Sales, and Global Merchant Services—to maximize client value from American Express products. This position suits candidates with strategic planning and transformation experience, covering concept development, Go-To-Market planning, and KPI design in large organizations.
As a Global Commercial Services (GCS) - Strategy & Transformation Intern you will:
- Drive thought leadership that challenges the status quo and uncovers new pathways for value creation and operational efficiency across organizational design, product, systems and processes.
- Author impactful presentations, content, agendas, and internal processes for key internal and external meetings (e.g. Senior leadership meetings)
- Collaborate with high number of cross-functional teams to gather inputs, while ensuring strategic alignment across critical stakeholders, to launch business initiatives ranging from pipeline growth initiatives, buyer vs. supplier product value story and risk mitigation driven workstreams
- Ensure lockstep alignment with SME commercial teams, harness Voice of the Customer feedback through client facing colleagues, and help inform partner roadmaps and plans
- Operate with integrity in all things and ensure strict adherence to controls and processes for all business development initiatives to be conducted in a compliant manner
- Use feedback to build consensus and commitment on a roadmap and overall strategy for US SME.
- Build and implement implementation plans to deliver results, outcomes, and monitor and report out on results.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in full-time graduate degree program.
- Graduate degree candidates must have a graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Candidate with 3+ years of relevant professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous exposure to sales organizations, Card & Non-Card payments and partner management
- Experience driving matrixed change across multiple groups, partners, and leadership levels
- Outstanding analytical and creative problem-solving skills; proven financial acumen
- Must demonstrate executive presence internally and externally, with the ability to lead senior level discussions with clients to influence decision-making and driving results
- Exceptional project management and process design skills
- Success at developing and evaluating strategies across dimensions including growth, customer experience, financial, and risk management, amongst others.
- Demonstrate intellectual curiosity to generate ideas and identify new opportunities for business growth
- Energetic, enthusiastic, team player and supporter, with a strong will to win
