Access Control Technician

Join a growing team supporting commercial security and access control projects throughout the Charleston area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with low-voltage, electrical, security, or structured cabling experience who wants to build a long-term career in the electronic security industry.

What You'll Do

  • Install access control devices including card readers, door contacts, request-to-exit devices, electric strikes, and magnetic locks
  • Assist with the installation of commercial security and access control systems
  • Pull, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling as needed
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and project documentation
  • Troubleshoot wiring issues, device failures, and system performance problems
  • Support system testing, startup, and commissioning activities
  • Work closely with project teams to complete projects on schedule
  • Maintain a professional presence at customer sites

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience in low-voltage, security, access control, electrical, or structured cabling environments
  • Basic understanding of wiring, circuits, and electrical concepts
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and installation documentation
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and dependable attendance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience installing access control systems or electronic door hardware
  • Experience with CCTV and integrated security systems
  • Exposure to platforms such as Lenel, Genetec, Software House, Openpath, Avigilon, or Brivo
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Scissor Lift Certification
  • Commercial construction experience
  • Customer-facing service experience

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charleston, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $31.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
