Summary

This is a part-time truck driver training instructor position to teach students to become a licensed CDL Class A driver which includes classroom and over-the-road instruction. Must be able to meet with students for weekly, or weekend training as needed and before classes begin to ensure that students know about the CDL career and requirements before entering the CDL program. Must adhere to local, state, and federal regulations including recordkeeping of each student for audit purposes and maintain required certifications. Training locations include all campuses including Cheraw, Marlboro, and Dillon.

Examples of duties

SBTCE Minimum Requirements: a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience. High school diploma or G.E.D. required; college degree preferred. Must maintain current CDL Class A license with Instruction Permit and pass the DMV CDL Instructor class. This position is subject to a background check and periodic drug screenings. Defensive Driver must be completed within six (6) months of hire. Five (5) years current work experience in Truck Driving, a current DOT physical card. One (1) year teaching and training experience in Truck Driving. Certification of attendance and completion of the AAMVA Examiner's Training Program and all required re-certification classes or the ability to attend the AAMVA Examiner's Training Program. Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a satisfactory background check.

Supplemental information

Applicant must be able to demonstrate effective teaching concepts using different techniques for different learning styles, maintain accurate student records, keep log book, adhere to truck driving training policies and procedures, assist with student job placement, stay abreast of DOT regulations and changes, schedule student testing with local DMV office, and serve as a role model to the students.
