Summary

The Gaming Enforcement Division is committed to the strict regulation and control of statutorily authorized gaming entities in conjunction with the Louisiana Gaming Control Board (LGCB). The regulation of gaming and the enforcement of criminal gambling laws promote the public's health, safety, and welfare by safeguarding the people of this state against corrupt and dishonest practices.

The program also provides professional services in an effective, innovative, and fair manner that instills public confidence while fulfilling duties that ensure accurate revenue collection and reporting from licensees, protect the state's assets, and ensure the integrity of all gaming devices and systems by enforcing compliance with all state laws, regulations, and licensees' internal controls related to legally authorized gaming in Louisiana.

We’re looking for an Accountant Supervisor 2 who can lead our accounting team. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and project-focused in order to learn the complex gaming industry and understand the impact gaming has on state revenues. The accountant supervisor 2 plays a key role in ensuring the accurate reporting of gaming revenues and the accurate collection of gaming fees and taxes on those revenues. You will also need to continue developing the knowledge and understanding of the accounting staff.

Examples of duties

Six years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license plus one year of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:

This position will oversee an accounting staff of four that includes an Accountant 3, two Accounting Techs, and a 4-year appointment Accountant.

  • In addition to supervisory responsibilities for reporting personnel, this position will:
  • Review and signoff on all daily gaming revenue reports.
  • Reconcile weekly racetrack slot revenues.
  • Track taxes and fees owed and received.
  • Provide monthly revenue reporting on casino, video poker, sports wagering, and fantasy sports revenues, fees, and taxes.
  • Track all gaming revenue and conduct analysis of gaming revenues, fees, and taxes.
  • Interact with DPS Finance, the Gaming Control Board, State of Louisiana Treasury, Department of Revenue, the Legislature and others on a regular basis.
  • Track and adjust video poker device meters and invoice video poker device owners.

Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $63,128.
