About the role

The Accountant supports VALD’s global Finance function across financial accounting, reporting, reconciliations, taxation and accounts receivable. Working closely with the Financial Controller and Finance Manager, and in collaboration with the Head of Accounts Receivable, the role supports financial activities across multiple subsidiaries, currencies and international jurisdictions, including Australia, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly financial statements and reporting, managing key reconciliation processes and contributing to collections forecasting and financial controls across VALD’s global operations.

What you will do

  • Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes, including preparation of journals, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and post general ledger journals and maintain accurate accounting records and ledgers.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations and cash flow reconciliations across multiple entities.
  • Provide assurance over the accuracy and completeness of financial statements and their compliance with applicable accounting and statutory requirements.
  • Prepare cash collection forecasts, monitor collection targets and report on accounts receivable and collection performance.
  • Analyse receivables, ageing, payment trends and bad debt provisions, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment and reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable balances and related accounts across VALD’s international entities and jurisdictions, investigating discrepancies and ensuring balances are accurately reflected in the general ledger.
  • Support financial reporting across multiple subsidiaries and currencies, including intercompany and foreign currency transactions.
  • Prepare and reconcile information supporting GST, VAT, sales tax and other taxation obligations across Australia, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
  • Assist with the preparation of taxation returns, statutory reporting, audit documentation and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and improve internal accounting controls, financial procedures and reconciliation processes.
  • Maintain accurate information within VALD’s financial and ERP systems and contribute to improvements in accounting processes and systems.
  • Assist with financial reporting requirements relating to banking arrangements, covenants and other financial obligations, where applicable.

About you

  • A relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • Experience in financial accounting, financial reporting, journals, reconciliations and ledger management.
  • Experience working across multiple entities, currencies and international operations.
  • Exposure to taxation and indirect tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions, ideally including Australia, the United States, Canada and/or the United Kingdom.
  • Experience with accounts receivable, collections forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls and month-end processes.
  • Experience using an ERP or accounting system, with NetSuite experience highly regarded.
  • Experience using HubSpot and Ezy Collect, and accounts receivable platforms, will be highly regarded.
  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Professional fluency in English, with Spanish-language capability highly regarded due to VALD’s global operation.
