Job Summary:
This role provides an opportunity to join Bechtel Global Logistics in a lead site-wide logistics capacity, supporting the planning, mobilisation and delivery of logistics services across a complex, multi-contract environment.
Working closely with project teams, client representatives, contractors and key stakeholders, the successful candidate will coordinate site-wide logistics requirements including common-use logistics areas, contractor interfaces, access and traffic management, temporary land and laydown allocation, shared facilities, logistics reporting and service provider performance.
The role is suited to an experienced logistics professional with sound commercial and operational judgement, practical problem-solving skills and the ability to influence and coordinate across multiple stakeholders without direct line authority. Experience in site-wide logistics, construction logistics, infrastructure, aviation, resources, major projects or other complex operating environments would be highly regarded, including candidates from adjacent logistics backgrounds with strong transferable skills and growth potential.
The Site Wide Logistics Manager will lead the planning, mobilisation and operation of portfolio-wide logistics services required to support complex, multi-contract project delivery, providing an independent logistics service across common-use areas while main works contractors remain responsible for logistics within their permanent works boundaries.
The role is accountable for integrated site-wide logistics services spanning access and control of people, materials and equipment, temporary land and laydown allocation, construction traffic management, shared support facilities, waste management and amenities. The successful candidate will develop and maintain the Site Wide Logistics Plan, integrating contractor logistics plans and using schedule, asset and resource forecasts to anticipate supply, access, land and traffic demands. #LI- AF1
The successful candidate will identify constraints early, recommend practical solutions and help reduce commercial, operational and portfolio risk.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop a site-wide logistics strategy and Site Wide Logistics Management Plan, aligning it with operational constraints, project delivery requirements and stakeholder expectations.
- Chair working groups and support stakeholder engagement, familiarisation and training to assist implementation of logistics strategies and plans.
- Plan, mobilise and manage site-wide logistics across portfolio common-use areas, including the movement of materials, fuel, plant, personnel and waste, and monitor compliance with the Site Wide Logistics Plan.
- Define and maintain the interface between a site-wide logistics scope and each contractor’s construction logistics responsibilities.
- Specify and consolidate contractor logistics reporting requirements, including workforce numbers, utilities, vehicle movements, material volumes and reporting cadence.
- Manage temporary land and laydown requests, allocations and permits, supporting effective land use and timely return in agreed condition.
- Establish the approach for access gates, haul roads, wayfinding and personnel movement across contracts, and address arrangements that are no longer effective or fit for purpose.
- Develop scopes of work, budgets and contract packaging strategies for site-wide logistics services and manage service provider performance.
- Act as a primary point of accountability for logistics interfaces with existing operations, external stakeholders, the site-wide logistics team and service providers.
- Report to senior management and the client on logistics planning, readiness and performance, and represent the logistics function in governance forums
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in site-wide and construction logistics across large, multi-contract infrastructure, civil, resources or other major project environments.
- Demonstrated capability in laydown allocation, access control, wayfinding, construction traffic management and coordination of multiple concurrent contractors.
- Experience working on or adjacent to a live operational facility.
- Experience establishing access control systems, land request procedures, construction traffic impact assessments and over-dimensional load routing.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills at client, contractor and senior stakeholder level.
- Ability to align multiple main works contractors, delivery partners and client stakeholders without direct line authority, consistent with the seniority of the role.
