This is a rare opportunity for a career-focused food & beverage professional with strong leadership and financial management skills.
Working with and reporting to our Food & Beverage Manager, the Food & Beverage Assistant Manager is responsible for the execution of industry-leading service, meeting financial targets, inventory management, training, succession planning and business development.

- Manages in compliance with all local, state and Federal beverage and liquor laws;
- Implements agreed upon policy and procedures throughout the property;
- Understands beverage control including days on hand, perpetual inventory, bar par levels, portion control, costs controls, beverage potentials, mix of sales analysis for beverage, issue & returns, food standards, and stock takes;
- Comprehends budgets, operating statements and payroll reports as needed to assist in the financial management of department;
- Empowers team to provide excellent guest service and emphasis on guest satisfaction, loyalty guest recognition and a focus on continuous improvement;
- Maintains food handling and sanitation standards;
- Participates in planning and development of menus.

- Maintaining operational systems, promoting best practice processes and procedures, as well as finding new and creative methods to conduct business.
- Delivering on the Novotel brand and service promise in all interactions.
- Involvement in future planning and the execution activations and special events.
- This role will be working on a rotation roster, including early morning, afternoon shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- This is a hands on operational role.
- Responsible for updating systems, updating price and menu changes in systems.
- Responsible for the food and beverage department in the absence of the Food & Beverage Manager.
Qualifications
About you..
- Qualifications and Experience:
- A strong knowledge of the industry and its trends, as well as a passion for hospitality and service, especially in a busy bar/restaurant atmosphere / conference environment.
- Proven track record of coaching, inspiring, and managing sizable teams of casual employees and fostering a good culture in a world-class service environment.
- The capacity to draw in customers, identify gaps in team skills, train them, evaluate them, and schedule them.
- Raise any concerns with our People & Culture team.
- The capacity to analyse operations continuously and propose innovations and modifications where necessary to ensure that we keep enhancing both operations and service.
- A dedication to the guest experience and a track record of building and maintaining connections with internal and external stakeholders
- A keen business sense, a commitment to maximising profits while preserving yield, and a drive to provide outstanding guest service
- Experience with Micros Symphony, Order Up, Purchase Plus and Opera Cloud an advantage
- Have current QLD RSA and First Aid Certification, RMLV desirable
- MUST HOLD current work rights in Australia, sponsorship is not available.
