General Manager - MACROVAN

The Appointment

MACROVAN is an Australian specialist vehicle business supplying purpose-built welfare vehicles through both direct sales and rental. Headquartered in Perth, the business is expanding nationally through a combination of direct operations, interstate production and fit-out partnerships, sales partners and agents.

Following significant investment in product development, production capability, intellectual property and the rental fleet, MACROVAN is seeking a General Manager to assume day-to-day executive leadership from the Director and lead the next phase of profitable national growth.

The immediate priority is to maximise the commercial return from the existing MACROVAN platform: increasing vehicle sales, expanding recurring rental revenue, building production capacity ahead of demand and strengthening the systems, people and partnerships required to operate at greater scale.

Scope of the Role

The General Manager will have overall accountability for the performance of MACROVAN, including:

  • Full P&L responsibility, including revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, cash generation, working capital and return on invested capital.
  • Development and execution of the national business plan, budget, forecasts and three-year growth strategy.
  • Leadership of the existing Business Development, Rental, Fit-Out and Administration functions.
  • Alignment of sales demand, rental fleet investment and production capacity.
  • Oversight of the rental fleet strategy, utilisation, yield and capital deployment.
  • Oversight of production capacity, cost, quality, lead times and delivery performance, while retaining day-to-day production ownership with the Fit-Out Manager.
  • Executive management of interstate production and fit-out partnerships, sales partners, agents and other commercial channels.
  • Development of major national customer relationships where senior executive involvement is required.
  • Recruitment and organisational development as the business expands.
  • Management reporting to the Director and Board, with clear visibility of performance, pipeline, capacity, cash requirements and forward outlook.

Established Team and Support Structure

The General Manager will inherit a functioning team with clear areas of responsibility. MACROVAN has an established Business Development Manager responsible for sales and hire opportunities, including interstate business development; a Hire Coordinator responsible for day-to-day rental coordination and a Fit-Out Manager responsible for production delivery.

The business also has access to shared corporate services including Finance, HSEQ and broader people and administrative support. The General Manager is expected to lead and strengthen these functions, not duplicate them. The position is accountable for the overall business result while capable managers retain ownership of day-to-day execution within their areas.

National Growth Model

MACROVAN is building national reach through a combination of direct operations and carefully selected external partners. The General Manager will be responsible for ensuring this model is commercially effective and scalable, including determining where direct investment is appropriate, where partnership arrangements provide a faster or more capital-efficient route to market, and how quality, margin, intellectual property, brand standards and customer relationships are protected as the network expands.

Candidate Profile

This appointment requires a commercially strong senior leader with demonstrated experience growing a business, managing a meaningful P&L and leading capable functional managers. The successful candidate does not need to come from an identical industry, but must be able to demonstrate disciplined commercial judgement, operational leadership and a record of materially improving business performance.

Relevant backgrounds may include vehicle or equipment rental, fleet, automotive, commercial vehicles, manufacturing, capital equipment, industrial services, infrastructure support services or another growth-oriented B2B environment.

The preferred candidate will demonstrate:

  • Senior P&L ownership and strong financial literacy.
  • A record of delivering material revenue and profit growth.
  • Experience leading multiple functions and established managers.
  • Strong commercial and capital-allocation capability.
  • Experience in operational, production, asset-heavy or fleet-based environments.
  • Experience managing strategic partners, agents, distributors or outsourced production arrangements.
  • The ability to introduce structure, reporting and accountability without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Confidence operating with substantial autonomy and direct accountability to owners or a Board.
  • The capacity to lead a national business from Perth, including regular interstate travel.

Product Development

As the core business scales, the General Manager will also contribute to the assessment and commercialisation of future product and market opportunities. This forms part of the longer-term remit, but remains secondary to the immediate objective of maximising the return from MACROVAN's current product, fleet and market opportunity.

The Opportunity

MACROVAN is at a significant stage in its development. The core product is established, a dedicated operating team is in place, rental and sales channels are active, national production and sales partnerships are developing, and substantial capital has already been committed to the platform.

The role offers a senior executive the opportunity to lead a business with genuine national growth potential while the organisational structure, partner network and operating model are still capable of being shaped. Success will be measured not simply by growth in revenue, but by the ability to convert the investment already made into a scalable, profitable and enduring national business.

Location and Remuneration

The role is headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, with national responsibility and regular interstate travel.

A senior executive remuneration package, including performance-based incentives aligned with profitable growth and business value creation, will be offered to attract an appropriately experienced candidate.

Applications

Applications are invited from experienced commercial leaders who can demonstrate a strong record of business growth, P&L ownership, team leadership and operational execution. This appointment is intended for a leader capable of assuming genuine responsibility for MACROVAN and building the operating platform required for its next stage of national development.
