Manager Developer Platform

  • Telenet
  • Mechelen, Belgium
  • €85,000 – €110,000

Software delivery is changing faster than it ever has. AI is reshaping how developers design, write, review and ship code, and the teams that get their platform right will move considerably faster than the ones that don't. We're looking for the person who will lead that work here.

Telenet's Developer Platform team is looking for a Manager to lead the foundations our engineers depend on every day: our CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling, our internal developer portal and golden paths, and our MCP and AI-assisted development capabilities.

As Manager of the Developer Platform team, you set the vision, build and lead the team that delivers our SDLC vision, and own the roadmap and the budget behind it. You'll work closely with architecture, tech leads, engineering leadership and cyber security, and you'll have real influence on how the entire engineering organization builds software over the coming years.

Your responsabilities as a Developer Platform Manager

  • You own the Developer Platform as a product: you define the vision and roadmap based on what our engineers actually need, measure adoption, gather feedback and retire what doesn't land.
  • You drive our internal developer portal and golden paths so that teams can move from idea to production without filing a ticket.
  • You set the direction on AI-assisted software development: MCP servers, agentic tooling, and the safe and effective adoption of AI across the SDLC.
  • You lead, coach and develop a team of platform engineers, and you own hiring, performance and retention — creating the conditions for them to do their best work.
  • You own the team's budget and make cost-conscious decisions on tooling, licences and cloud spend.
  • You make sure reliability, security and compliance are built into the platform rather than bolted on afterwards, and you report clearly on platform health, adoption and impact to leadership.
  • You act as the connection point between what developers want and what the organisation requires, and you push back constructively when the two conflict.
  • You represent the platform internally: you evangelise it, onboard teams onto it, and turn sceptics into users.

Your profile as Developer Platform Manager

  • You have a solid engineering, architecture or software delivery background, and you understand modern delivery from the inside.
  • You have proven experience leading engineering teams, including people management, hiring and coaching. A strong tech lead ready to take the step up is equally welcome.
  • You have hands-on familiarity with AI tooling, CI/CD tooling, version control workflows, containerization and cloud infrastructure, and a strong interest in AI-assisted development, MCP and agentic tooling in an engineering context.
  • You have a product mindset: you think in terms of users, adoption and outcomes rather than tickets closed.
  • You are comfortable owning a budget and justifying investment decisions.
  • You have strong communication skills, with the ability to move between a deep technical discussion and an executive conversation.
  • You are pragmatic and comfortable with ambiguity, because this space is moving fast and the roadmap will change — and you're genuinely energized by making other engineers more productive.
