Job Profile

Define functional goals and objectives, demonstrate leadership skills to build a strong talent pipeline in the team and guide managers to oversee activities related to highly complex operations in the market/country

The role holder will:

  • Manage a service operations team or unit in the operation, delivery and execution of internal business services, technological services, and transformation resources in a market/country
  • Design various developmental activities for team members and manage their work schedules to ensure optimum coverage for stakeholders in a market/country
  • Engage with stakeholders to establish business needs in a market/country
  • Maintain efficient control and governance environment which complies with HSBC policy and procedures
  • Ensure that internal business operations are executed in accordance with prevailing rules, blueprint, and design principles
  • Seek continuous improvements in efficiency of service provision and cost effectiveness of operations
  • Be involved in setting business strategy and direction for the market/country
  • Be involved in change and transformational initiatives in the market/country
  • Drive the execution of overall business strategy for the market/country

Local Job Requirements

  • Implement and administer Asset Management's Operational strategy as defined and directed by the Head of Asset Management business in country to support the delivery of new products, processes and reporting and controls needed by the Asset Management business, its clients, counterparties and regulators
  • Co-ordinate and act as a point person for all internal and regulatory audits, compliance monitoring and testing reviews
  • Maintain a list of actions from reviewsand audits and ensure all points are closed out in a timely manner
  • Oversight of the fund adminstrator with a focus on defining and reviewing appropriate KPIs and periodic service reviews
  • Coordinate the business continuity needs for Asset Management to satisfy internal requirements
  • Implement Group policy locally: maintaining HSBC internal control standards
  • Identification, management and mitigation of operational, regulatory and reputational risks within the Asset Management operations function
  • Accountable for the day to day running of an Asset Management Operations team including expense management
  • Analyse complex business and regulatory documentation, ensuring timely regulatory filings (where managed by AMBM) and summarise key operational controls required to risk-manage direct activities and related processes
  • Responsible for the continued evolution and development of Asset Management Operations systems and processes in order to respond to the changing needs of the business, its clients and its regulators
  • Contribute towards the creation of standards and data policy within the discipline
  • Work in a leadership capacity within a small team environment and lead projects with cross functional teams

Certifications, Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in Operations within the asset management industry focusing on change management, mitigating operational risk and management of a strong governance oversight model
  • Experience directly managing internal and regulatory audits essential
  • Knowledge and experience working with fund administrators is required
  • University Degree is required preferrably with a focus in business adminstration
  • Post Graduate Degree or Professional designation in Investments or Project Management preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills, with experience communicating with staff and customers at all levels
  • Ability to present to senior management forums such as to top executives and board of directors
  • Strong problem resolution skills, ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite of products specifically Excel, Word and workflow diagrams
