At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving, observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be a part of our journey.

We are looking for an experienced Equipment Lead to join the North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven (NTB) Transformation Project. This landmark investment will modernise one of Europe’s key container terminals through significant upgrades to equipment, infrastructure, and systems, helping create a future-ready, highly efficient, and sustainable operation.

In this role, you will lead the delivery and integration of major equipment solutions, working closely with internal stakeholders, engineering teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure successful project execution from specification through commissioning and handover. You will play a key role in transforming NTB into one of the world's most efficient and resilient container terminals while supporting APM Terminals' commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and sustainability.

What We Can Offer

At APM Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement means every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers by continuously refining how we work. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

In addition, this role offers the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate with global engineering, operations, maintenance, and project delivery experts across APM Terminals.
  • Work in an international and multicultural environment with exposure to leading terminal technologies.
  • Play a key role in shaping future operational capabilities and sustainable equipment solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, and integration of equipment within the NTB modernisation programme.
  • Develop and implement equipment delivery and integration plans, including schedules, budgets, and key milestones.
  • Coordinate equipment-related technical activities across vendors, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure equipment solutions align with approved project scope, global APM Terminals standards, and local operational requirements.
  • Manage equipment vendors and quality-control partners to ensure delivery performance, quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Support technical integration, commissioning, testing, and training activities to enable a successful transition into operations.
  • Promote a strong HSSE culture and ensure compliance with APM Terminals and project safety standards throughout delivery and implementation.

What We Are Looking For

  • Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset, curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.
  • Leadership expectation: We are looking for people who consistently put customers first, lead by example with respect for people, deliver results with integrity, and drive continuous improvement by solving problems at the root, developing people, and raising standards every day.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, preferably within Mechanical Engineering, Crane Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience within the container terminal industry, including a proven track record of delivering major equipment projects.
  • Strong knowledge of port equipment, remote-controlled ship-to-shore cranes, automated straddle carrier systems, and related industrial infrastructure.
  • Experience managing equipment specifications, contracts, vendors, and technical stakeholders across complex project environments.
  • Solid understanding of project management, change management, and stakeholder engagement within large-scale transformation programmes.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions and organisational levels.
  • German language skills are highly desirable and will be considered a significant advantage.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented professional with strong attention to quality, documentation, and follow-through.
  • Comfortable working in multicultural environments and building effective relationships with internal and external partners.
