About the Role
Are you a confident, strong ice skater who loves the magic of winter? We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and highly skilled Ice Marshalls to join our seasonal team on the rink!
This is an active, fast-paced role where you are the heartbeat of the ice rink. From helping a hesitant beginner find their footing to ensuring everyone stays safe while having fun, you will be the face of our festive skating experience. We don’t just want standard customer service—we want SUPERHERO service on ice. Main Responsibilities
Guest Experience
- Deliver SUPERHERO Service: Swoop in first! Take the initiative to skate over and greet guests with warmth, enthusiasm, and a festive smile, anticipating their needs (especially if they look a little wobbly!) before they even have to ask.
- On-Ice Guiding & Coaching: Cheerfully assist, encourage, and guide guests who may not be strong on the ice, helping them build confidence and create magical memories.
- Festive Atmosphere: Keep the energy high and the festive spirit alive on the rink, acting as a friendly, reassuring presence for skaters of all ages.
Operational Excellence & Safety
- Rink Monitoring: Actively patrol the ice during public sessions to ensure all guests are adhering to rink safety rules and restrictions.
- First Response: Act as the very first responder on the ice should any slips, trips, or incidents occur, providing immediate reassurance and support.
- Incident Escalation: Stay calm and swiftly escalate any accidents or emergencies to the correct channels and Duty Manager in line with company protocols.
- Ice Maintenance: Assist with checking ice conditions and clearing any stray debris or hazards off the ice surface immediately.
Health & Safety
- Safety Adherence: Strictly adhere to and enforce all safe operating procedures and rink capacities in line with the training provided.
- Incident Reporting: Promptly and accurately document and report any safety hazards, incidents, or lost children to the Duty Manager.
- First Aid Support: Coordinate with the on-site first aid team to ensure injured guests receive swift, professional care.
Key Characteristics & Qualities Required
- Expert Skating Ability: Essential. You must be a highly competent, strong, and confident ice skater, capable of moving quickly, safely, and backwards on the ice to monitor the rink effectively.
- Calm Under Pressure: Able to handle accidents or busy sessions with a cool head, rapid reactions, and a reassuring, professional manner.
- Proactive & High-Energy: You don't wait for someone to fall; you spot struggling skaters early and glide over to help, living our "make it happen" value with "good energy only."
- Exceptional Communicator: Clear, friendly, and firm when enforcing safety rules, but always engaging and encouraging, especially with children and beginners.
- Reliable Team Player: Committed to showing up on time, fully energized, and ready to work closely with the skate hire and management teams to keep the rink running smoothly.
- Festive Spirit: A genuine love for the holiday season and a desire to make every guest's time on the ice feel safe and magical.
- Contract Type: Full-Time & Part-Time available
- Hours: Flexible shift patterns including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays (essential for spreading Christmas cheer!)
- Pay: £13.50 (Must be 18+)
Looking for people based locally to the Luton Hoo Estate as travel and accommodation are not provided.
