About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our Road and Highway Infrastructure Project team in Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will provide geotechnical engineering expertise throughout project planning, investigation, design, construction supervision, and risk management phases. The role will support the delivery of safe, sustainable, and resilient transportation infrastructure in challenging terrain and geological conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze highway drainage systems, including roadside drains, culverts, channels, and stormwater networks.
  • Conduct hydraulic and drainage assessments for roads, highways, bridges, and associated infrastructure.
  • Prepare drainage reports, hydraulic calculations, design drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Design cross-drainage structures including culverts, causeways, and flood relief structures.
  • Develop erosion and sediment control measures for road construction and operation.
  • Evaluate climate change impacts on drainage infrastructure and recommend resilient design solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with project standards, local regulations, and international design guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, preferably at Master's level
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in hydraulic analysis for road/highway projects, requirement of drainage and system design in compliance with environmental regulations, preferably for projects financed by MDBs.
  • Male or female
  • Good communication in English Language
