Summary

The School Nurse & Bus Assistant will be responsible for providing first aid and basic nursing support to students participating in the Afterschool Programs, while also supporting the safe transportation of students as a Bus Assistant when required.

The position requires a responsible, caring and safety-oriented professional who can respond effectively to students' health and safety needs and work collaboratively with the Afterschool team, school administration, bus drivers and bus assistants.

You will report to: Afterschool Programs Director / designated school administration

Contract details: Part-time, 4-hour daily employment. The position will primarily cover the Afterschool Programs from 14:45 to 17:00, with the remaining working hours assigned according to the needs of the Elementary School and/or student transportation services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

School Nurse

• Health & First Aid: Provide immediate nursing care, basic first aid, and health assessments for illnesses or injuries; escalate for further medical attention when necessary.
• Recordkeeping & Compliance: Maintain accurate health incident records in compliance with school policies and privacy standards.
• Communication: Update parents/guardians and school administration on relevant health incidents.
• Resource Management: Keep first-aid supplies and medical equipment stocked and maintained.

Bus Assistant

• Student Safety: Supervise students during regular and afterschool transit to ensure transportation safety rules are followed.
• Behavior & Incident Management: Monitor behavior, intervene when necessary, and report safety or behavioral concerns to appropriate leads.
• Emergency Response: Follow protocol for delays, breakdowns, or unexpected transport incidents, maintaining clear communication with drivers and staff.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Licensing: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or equivalent recognized qualification) with a valid nursing license in Greece. First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

Languages: Fluency in both written and spoken Greek and English.

• Calm demeanor under pressure with strong emergency response capabilities.
• Strong organization, multitasking, and basic computer skills.
• High level of discretion, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality.

Experience

• A minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience is preferred.

• Experience working with children is considered an asset.

• Previous experience in a school, educational setting, pediatric environment or student transportation is considered an asset.

• Previous experience as a bus assistant or working in student transportation is considered an asset but is not required.
