As an Electrical Engineer, you will support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and electromechanical systems within a state-of-the-art Data Center. Working closely with the Engineering Operations team, you will help maintain the highest standards of performance, safety, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on critical mechanical infrastructure and associated systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment and support the resolution of technical incidents.
- Monitor infrastructure performance and proactively identify potential issues or risks.
- Support operations and maintenance activities to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
- Coordinate and supervise contractors and external service providers on-site.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents when required.
- Contribute to energy efficiency, sustainability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in facilities operations and maintenance of large-scale electrical and/or mechanical systems.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, operational environment.
- Hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Experience in Data Centers, critical facilities, industrial environments, utilities, or similar infrastructure is highly desirable.
The Data Center Engineer is responsible for supporting the safe execution of electrical and mechanical work within data centers, working under the guidance of engineers. They help administer and monitor safe systems of work, ensuring all activities comply with established safety rules and procedures. The role involves assisting in the training and assessment of staff and contractors, participating in audits, and contributing to the continuous improvement of safety practices. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to address operational challenges, resolve issues, and maintain a safe working environment. They are expected to demonstrate a commitment to company values, including customer focus, teamwork, and results-driven performance. The engineer also helps interpret and apply complex safety regulations, ensuring all work is performed to the highest standards. Effective communication and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
- Bachelors degree in engineering (preferably BEng or BSc Hons), ideally electrical
- Recognised craft Apprenticeship or training scheme in electrical engineering
- AE training course completed
- AP (Authorised Person) training attended, with experience as HV or LV AP
- 2-4 Years experience in Building Services, Electrical, or Data Center industry
- Strong understanding of electrical safety and switching in critical environments
- Experience in oversight, assessment, and training, including audits and competence vetting of contractors
