We are looking for: System Engineering / Mechanical Developer– MV Switchgear Engineering

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Serve as Mechanical Engineering point of contact for Siemens MV-AIS switchgear product
  • Job duties can be broken across 3 categories: “Design & Documentation”, “Collaboration”, “Support and Quality”
  • Review customer specifications, commercial and technical documents, and product requirements to define the preliminary scope of work for switchgear and associated components, ensuring full compliance with customer requirements and project objectives.
  • Prepare Switchgear mechanical modelling concept with 3D/2D according NEMA Standards.
  • Customisation of Mechanical Switchgear Drawings according to Customer requirements.
  • Work independently to create all documents for customer approval and manufacturing of MV AIS switchgear for GMSG per design specifications using Engineering Design and Configurators software.
  • Typical documents include: Customer Specification Alignment, 3D Models for Factory Fabrication, General Arrangement, Side Views, Bill of Materials.
  • Accountability for geometric dimensioning and Tolerances and sheet metal structural design
  • Collaborate with multiple partners across project lifecycles, including Application Engineers, Project Engineers, Electrical Developer, and Mechanical Engineers.
  • Ownership of the overall work you're doing from a mechanical standpoint – including design, drafting, customer and factory work point of view.
  • Function as Quality gate before release of drawings/documentation to customer and factory. assembly drawings, detailed drawings, manufacturing sketches, layouts, inspection data and bill of materials
  • Provide factory support during the manufacturing phase of your projects, making sure quality requirements are met. Also, in the process of providing technical support or clarifications to customers during FAT.
  • Initiate and support product as well as process improvements through cross-team collaboration
  • Expertise and Understanding of Protection philosophy and component selection
  • Prepare Customer-facing Closeout / As built documents for the complete scope of work.

Use your skills to move the world forward!

  • Masters/bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 4+ years of engineering experience for medium-voltage switchgear panel component making, sheet metal preparation, and placement of the components within the IEEE & NEMA standards.
  • Experience in 3D/2D Modelling using AutoCAD, NX, Revit, etc. Preference given to NX experience.
  • Experience with the design and application of electrical power distribution products and power systems/ power delivery (Switchgear).
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Structure schemes, schematics, and layout diagrams.
  • Ability to analyse customers’ technical documentation to interpret and apply appropriate Siemens product offerings to meet the customers’ expectations in a cost-effective and timely manner, and offer alternative solutions to optimize profitability while meeting customer needs.
  • Basic financial knowledge to understand and participate in ongoing business planning and support the product as well as project lifecycle management processes.
  • Excellent collaboration, leadership, and decision-making skills in a team environment, and demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks while maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Ability to multitask and manage large workloads and business demands.
  • An ideal candidate is self-driven with attention to detail, a system thinker, and process-driven, and should also embrace a culture of quality.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively and accurately communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Experience in PLM software: SAP, Team Centre, Sales Force, Windchill, etc.
  • Travel Required – Less than 10%.
