Title:

DG BOSS: Cashier (FN)

  • Checks identification cards, meal passes, or travel orders, as applicable and are identified in NAVSUP P-486, paragraph 2303.
  • Obtains signature of each category of personnel entering the galley on appropriate forms, payment from customers who do not have meal privileges and lining through incorrect entries (Signature from Cashier and Customer).
  • Ensure that customers record the travel order number and issuing command in the meal signature record and annotate the original travel orders indicating the exact meals provided at no cost.
  • Enforces galley dress code using the prescribed guidance in DGREGCOORDINST 1020.1L, Uniform and Civilian Attire.
  • Readies all meal signature documents prior to the meal start, ensure controlled forms are collected after each meal period before turnover to the Lead Cashier.
  • Post, change and arrange all daily entrees to the menu board including last minute changes due to Not in Stock (NIS) items.
  • Audits and summarize all meal signature records after each meal and tallies meals for the day.
  • Prepares and submits the BOS Contractor’s meal signature records NAVSUP Form 1291, for verification by the Food Service Officer.
  • Reports overages/ shortages in change fund to the Lead Cashier or on duty Supervisor for appropriate corrective action.
  • Determines eligibility for flight meals on a cash and non-cash basis and follows flight request procedures.
  • Prepares in-flight meal requests for remote areas, bag lunches, box lunches and picnic rations.
  • Overseas all cash refunds and cash sale refunds, when appropriate, will not be made if there are any component part of the meal has been opened or consumed, or if the flight meals are returned more than three hours after they were issued.
  • Collects and safeguards all monies generated from meal sales and makes turn-ins after the meal period to the Lead Cashier. Operates the electronic cash register and reports any malfunctions to the Lead Cashier and the on-duty Supervisor.
  • Completely familiar with all Cashiers’ instructions covered in the Standard Operating Procedures and NAVSUP P-486, Food Service Management.
  • Provides all other duties as may be required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must speak, read, and understand English language.
  • Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
  • Must be computer literate (MS-Office).

Preferred Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING

  • 4-hour Food Safety Course
  • Food Sanitation Training Certificate

EDUCATION:

  • Must be at least a High School, Technical, or Vocational course graduate is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 2 years working for the U.S. military installations or with American owned companies as a Cashier.
