WWF International expanded its global Youth Engagement Programme for 18–30-year-olds in 2024. The Programme, which provides internships, youth-led grassroots leadership programme and virtual mentorship opportunities, aims to inspire a new generation of environmental advocates and leaders, especially young women, in their countries and communities to actively contribute to youth and community-led conservation and help drive positive change*.

1. MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT

Conservation Program’s mission is to deliver high quality, impactful and measurable programs to protect the degradation of the nature benefiting people and the biodiversity in a geographic landscape setting. In this context, this role will be based in WWF-Cambodia’s Eastern Plain Landscape in Mondulkiri Province supporting the Conservation Transboundary Landscape Initiative jointly implemented by WWF-Vietnam and WWF-Cambodia with the support from WWF-International.

3. MAJOR FUNCTIONS

• Overall project management assistance to support the development, implementation and monitoring of the Conservation Transboundary Landscape Initiative jointly implemented by WWF-Vietnam and WWF-Cambodia with the support from WWF-International.
• Provide a structured learning opportunity for a young conservation professional to gain practical experience in biodiversity conservation, inclusive conservation, project coordination, monitoring and evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and transboundary landscape management while contributing to project objectives and conservation outcomes.
• This role will be reporting to ‘Biodiversity and Research Thematic Manager’ of Eastern Plain Landscape (EPL), WWF-Cambodia.

1. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Project design/development: provide inputs to line manager in the development of project activities, outputs, theory of change and M&E development of the initiative to meet its desired objectives. In coordination with the line manager and dotted line support from WWF-Cambodia's PMEL Senior Officer, develop a project M&E system to enable a simplified project M&E system to track and to report the progress of the initiative to relevant stakeholders (donors, partners, local government)
• Project implementation: provide administration support to line manager and EPL team in regard to the overall implementation of the Initiative, which may include but not limited to: i) scheduling team’s meeting; ii) coordinating meeting with partners; iii) preparing minutes of meeting among teams and or with partners; iv) supporting project documentation for meeting presentation with partners or with senior leadership team
• Project monitoring and reporting: coordinate inputs for project report and draft monthly project report for submission to the line manager.
• Knowledge management; under the guidance of WWF-Cambodia's Head of Communications, provide regular updates of initiative activities, event and any relevant information to be included in WWF-Cambodia's communication materials.
• Learn about the importance of habitat connectivity, elephant movement patterns, and their role in supporting long-term biodiversity conservation; and support project development and integrate into conservation planning and implementation.
• Learn about inclusive conservation approaches, including safeguards and GEDSI integration in conservation projects, and support documentation, learning activities to promote awareness of transboundary conservation initiatives.
• Develop communication products and storytelling content on inclusive conservation, habitat connectivity, and transboundary elephant conservation for diverse audiences.
• Document project activities, field visits, and stakeholder engagement processes to support project communications and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute ideas and perspectives as a youth representative to enhance engagement with young audiences and foster greater awareness of conservation issues.

1. PROFILE

Required Qualifications.
• Bachelor’s degree in conservation related subjects (Biology, Forestry, Agriculture, Social Development) and other relevant studies (Research, Development Studies)
• English proficiency – oral and writing skills
• Strong interest and passion in conservation programs
• Ability to travel to remote areas with limited communication networks
• Coordination and team-work skills
• Cross culture communication skills with potential interaction with indigenous population, local partners and local government counterparts

Required Skills and Competencies.
• Knowledge and experiences relevant to conservation programs in Viet Nam, Cambodia or the Southeast Asia region
• Project management experiences
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
• Self-motivated, proactive, and willing to learn in a dynamic conservation environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and basic digital communication tools.
