ABOUT THE ROLE:

Join a team of dedicated professionals in the insurance and technology sector, working on projects focused on maintaining, enhancing, and modernizing business-critical insurance applications. You will work with both modern and legacy PHP technologies, contributing to ongoing system improvements and technology uplift initiatives. This is a hybrid role based in Riga, Latvia, offered on a fixed-term contract for several months.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance PHP-based insurance applications and business-critical systems.
• Work with both modern and legacy PHP applications and contribute to ongoing system modernization.
• Develop and maintain backend functionality, APIs, integrations, and database-related components.
• Work with frontend technologies including React and Vue.js as required by the projects.
• Analyze existing legacy solutions and implement improvements, fixes, and new functionality.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, QA engineers, and external development teams.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and production support activities.
• Contribute to the technology uplift and modernization of legacy applications.
• Ensure code quality, maintainability, performance, and adherence to development standards.
• Document technical solutions and support knowledge sharing within the development team.

WHAT WE EXPECT:

• Strong experience with PHP 8.x and/or experience maintaining PHP 5.6 legacy applications.
• Experience with MySQL.
• Experience with Laravel and/or CodeIgniter 3.x.
• Experience with React and/or Vue.js.
• Understanding of REST APIs, integrations, and web application architecture.
• Experience working with and maintaining legacy systems.
• Ability to analyze existing code and implement enhancements, fixes, and technical improvements.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle, testing, debugging, and version control.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to changing technical requirements.
• Experience with system modernization, technology upgrades, or legacy application uplift is an advantage.
• Previous experience in the insurance sector is an advantage.

WHAT WE OFFER:

Hourly rate: 28–38 EUR/hour, depending on experience and technical expertise. Fixed-term contract for several months, with the exact duration discussed during the recruitment process. Hybrid working model in Riga, Latvia.
