Your Roadmap

As a Project EHS Manager, you support the Project Manager in planning, supervising, monitoring and reporting of all EHS related proceedings in relation to the project. Focus of the role is to ensure compliance with applicable internal and external EHS-related rules & regulations and the prevention of EHS related hazards and risks. You establish the EHS plan to the extent required for the project and manage its implementation. You have the authority to intervene/escalate in case of significant non-conformance.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Define and implement the EHS plan for on-site application in accordance with the EHS Management System of the relevant BU/Country.
  • Support the Project Manager (PM) in planning and securing milestone results.
  • Cooperate with the EHS department of the project-related BU and other functions.
  • Identify EHS-related rules and regulations applicable to the project.
  • Identify EHS aspects relevant to the project.
  • Determine appropriate means for managing EHS aspects and ensuring compliance with regulations, incorporating them into the overall project plan and budget.
  • Establish the EHS plan and ensure its execution.
  • Establish and communicate EHS targets and determine related KPIs for the project.
  • Identify and inspect hazards and define corrective measures for their elimination.
  • Prepare proposals for improving safety standards and ensuring their observance.
  • Define and issue project-specific directives in collaboration with the PM to ensure compliance with EHS rules and customer requirements.
  • Liaise with customer and contractor EHS representatives.
  • Advise and train site personnel in EHS matters (e.g., accident prevention).
  • Conduct toolbox meetings, discussions, and plant safety walkdowns, while monitoring the elimination of deficiencies.
  • Plan and monitor accident alerts and rescue services, including first-aid and emergency response.
  • Report EHS status, incidents, and root-cause analysis to the PM.
  • Report safety statistics and escalate deficiencies or non-conformances to the PM and functional reporting lines.
  • Plan, conduct, and participate in EHS-related inspections, assessments, audits, and reviews.
  • Participate in status meetings and ensure the implementation of improvement measures.
  • Intervene and escalate to the PM or EHS organization when EHS procedures are not followed.
  • Plan, initiate, and coordinate continuous improvement actions for all phases of the project.
  • Ensure the sharing of best practices and feedback (e.g., through workshops and project assessments).

Keys to Success

  • 5-10+ years of advanced expertise in EHS.
  • Preferably degree in technology / EHS related field of study.
  • Up to date/recent additional training, qualification in EHS related areas (EHS related training required + EHS related certification desirable).
  • Advanced knowledge of EHS related legal environment.
  • Fluent in English, French and Arabic.
  • Change management-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills essential for the role;
  • Experience in international and multi-site project environments.
