Operations Supervisor

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Plan, organize and supervise all lifting, materials-handling and heavy cargo transport operations carried out by the Cranes Division;

• Manage and coordinate technical and operational teams in Mozambique and neighboring countries, ensuring efficient allocation of human resources and equipment;

• Prepare and validate Lift Plans, Method Statements and other technical documentation required for lifting operations;

• Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) procedures across all operations;

• Monitor the condition, maintenance and certification of lifting and materials-handling equipment, ensuring legal and technical compliance;

• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors and other stakeholders on the scheduling and execution of operations;

• Control costs, deadlines and operational performance of the division, proposing continuous improvements;

• Carry out risk management for operations, identifying hazards and implementing mitigation measures;

• Report regularly to Management on the division's performance, incidents, near-misses and non-conformities;

• Ensure ongoing training and technical development of the teams under their responsibility;

• Ensure the correct allocation of equipment and staff according to the needs and specifications of each client and project;

• Support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals related to crane and lifting operations, whenever requested.

SKILLS AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Fluent in Portuguese and English, written and spoken, for communication with local teams, international clients and regional partners (French is an additional advantage);

• Strong leadership and team management skills in multicultural, multinational environments;

• Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in dynamic operational environments;

• Strategic vision with a strong focus on safety, quality and meeting deadlines;

• Technical and practical knowledge of lifting equipment (mobile cranes, crawler cranes, SPMTs, among others);

• Flexibility for frequent travel between Mozambique and neighboring countries;

• Proactive, committed, with a strong sense of responsibility.

CERTIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL CREDENTIALS

• Mobile Crane Operator certification, where applicable to direct technical supervision duties;

• Lifting Supervisor certification (e.g. LEEA, CICB, or an industry-recognized equivalent) (preferred);

• Rigging and Signaling certification (Rigger / Banksman / Slinger), with knowledge of applicable standards (e.g. LOLER, ASME B30, or equivalent local standards) (preferred);

• Occupational Health and Safety training (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) and knowledge of safe lifting work procedures (Lift Plans, Method Statements);

• Valid driver's license; valid passport and availability to travel and work under a regional mobility arrangement;

• Additional certifications in cargo/logistics project management will be considered an asset.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in crane operations, lifting and heavy lift / project cargo handling;

• Proven experience managing multinational teams, including operations in Mozambique and neighboring countries (e.g. South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania);

• Practical knowledge of large-scale project operations (e.g. LNG, energy, mining, hydroelectric) is an advantage.

• Technical or higher education degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management or a related field (preferred);
