Waimakariri District is one of the fastest-growing districts in New Zealand and the third largest by population in the South Island. As our communities grow, so does the need for sustainable, resilient, and future-focused infrastructure. The Council is seeking a Project Engineer to work within the Utilities Projects Team as part of the Project Delivery Unit, based in Rangiora. The Project Delivery Unit provides asset management and engineering planning, design, delivery and development consultancy services to the Utilities and Roading Department, Green Space Team, and the wider Council.
In this key position you will take responsibility for:
- Providing technical expertise and support in the ongoing delivery of the Council Water Services and Stormwater Capital Works Program
- Manage projects from investigation and design through to procurement, construction and completion
- Work closely with Council staff, consultants, contractors, iwi, and stakeholders to achieve outstanding project outcomes
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in a way that protects and enhances the environment
- Contribute to infrastructure that improves the wellbeing of our communities for generations to come
Our ideal candidate will:
- Be a qualified Civil or Natural Resources Engineer, or hold an alternative relevant tertiary qualification with technical expertise in Engineering
- Have 3+ years working experience delivering civil, water, wastewater, and/or stormwater infrastructure projects.
- Have strong technical, project management, organisational, and communication skills.
- Have knowledge of NZS 3910 contract administration.
- Have experience in three waters design and construction
