Kia ora!
At Air New Zealand, identity plays an important role in how our customers interact with us digitally and throughout their travel journey.
We are looking for a Senior Customer Identity Engineer to join our Cyber & Identity team and help build, operate and evolve the services that support customer identity, authentication and digital identity.
This is a hands-on engineering role working across application code, APIs, authentication services and supporting platforms. You will work with teams across Air New Zealand to deliver secure, reliable and simple identity experiences for our customers.
What you'll be doing
- Develop, maintain and support customer identity and authentication services.
- Build and maintain Java-based applications, APIs and backend services.
- Support customer journeys including registration, login, account management and authentication.
- Implement secure authentication and authorisation using standards such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
- Build and support integrations between identity services and other Air New Zealand platforms.
- Manage source code, testing, builds and deployments using CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Support production services, investigate incidents and resolve root causes.
- Contribute to security controls including MFA, session management, certificates and secrets.
- Work with other squads to provide secure and reusable identity patterns.
- Contribute to emerging digital identity and biometric capabilities.
- Participate in a 24/7 rostered on-call rotation.
What you'll bring
Ideally, you'll have around 3+ years of software, platform or identity engineering experience, with experience in several of the following:
- Strong Java development skills.
- REST APIs and backend services.
- PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
- OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SSO or related identity standards.
- CI/CD, automated testing and source control.
- Containerised applications and cloud platforms.
- Production support, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Secure software development and API security.
- Monitoring and observability.
Previous Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) experience would be valuable, but strong software engineering experience with an interest in identity and cybersecurity is equally important.
Experience with passwordless authentication, passkeys, FIDO2/WebAuthn, identity verification or biometrics would be an advantage.
Air New Zealand offers a salary and benefits package, and we're happy to discuss expectations with the right candidate.
