Campus Student Support Assistant

OneSchool Global Palmerston North Campus is seeking a caring and dedicated Student Support Assistant (Teacher Aide) to provide one-on-one support for a student with Type 1 Diabetes. This role is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a student's educational journey.
Role Details
Hours: 25-30 hours per week
Start Date: 16 November 2026 or ASAP
Contract: Fixed Term, Full Time, through to 10 December 2027
About the Role
Working closely with the student, teaching staff, you will:
• Provide dedicated support to a student with Type 1 Diabetes throughout the school day.
• Assist the student to fully participate in learning and school activities.
• Monitor and support the student's wellbeing in line with agreed care plans and procedures.
• Help foster independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
• Liaise effectively with teachers and school staff to ensure consistent support.
• Maintain accurate communication regarding the student's needs and wellbeing.
What We're Looking For
• A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with young people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to remain calm and responsive in a range of situations.
• Confidence following established health, wellbeing, and learning support plans.
• Previous experience working with children who require ongoing health or wellbeing support is desirable.
• Previous experience supporting students with health or additional learning needs would be advantageous, but is not essential.
