THE OPPORTUNITY

As Dairy Production Manager (2IC) at Broadlands Organic Dairy, you’ll work closely with the Farm Manager to help lead the day-to-day running of the farm.

This is a hands-on role where you could be involved in areas such as milking, animal health, pasture and feed management, calving, calf rearing, effluent management, farm presentation, and health and safety.

You may also help coach the team, take part in meetings, keep good records, and step up when the Farm Manager is away. Just as importantly, you’ll help maintain a positive, collaborative team culture.

ABOUT YOU

You might already be in a 2IC or Production Manager role, or you may be ready for that next step.

You’ll bring:

• Good dairy farming experience, including milking, animal health, pasture management, and calving
• A calm, practical approach and the confidence to help guide others
• A strong focus on animal care, health and safety, and doing the job well
• Good communication skills and a team-first attitude
• Confidence using farm records and systems, or a willingness to learn
• A current full New Zealand driver’s licence
• Experience or a strong interest in organic farming

THE PĀMU FARM

Broadlands was fully converted to an organic farm in 2023 and is part of Pāmu’s Central Plateau organic dairy network.

Enjoy a friendly and supportive local community, with the school bus at the gate and easy access to a wide range of recreational activities.

Broadlands is a 515-hectare organic dairy farm milking approximately 1,220 cows through an 80-bale rotary shed. The farm uses Halter technology as part of the team’s daily management tools, supporting efficient grazing, animal monitoring and day-to-day decision making.
