Job Description

We're looking for a Project Manager to join our Christchurch team and play a key role in shaping the buildings, spaces and infrastructure that support New Zealand's communities.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of projects from concept through to completion, working directly with clients, consultants and contractors to deliver successful outcomes. You'll be trusted to lead key project activities, build strong client relationships and play a hands-on role throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead projects through all phases of the project lifecycle, from project establishment and design through to procurement, construction and handover.
  • Act as the key day-to-day advisor to clients, consultants and contractors, ensuring strong communication and successful project outcomes.
  • Coordinate and manage consultant performance, design development and project delivery activities to ensure objectives are achieved.
  • Manage procurement processes, including tender documentation, contractor engagement, tender evaluations and recommendations.
  • Administer contracts, monitor programme delivery, manage risks and drive project performance across budget, quality and time objectives.
  • Prepare project reporting, communicate risks and opportunities, and provide clear recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute positively to the ongoing growth, culture and success of Project Leaders.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum 3 years' experience in project management within construction, property, infrastructure or a related industry, or at least 5 years’ experience in the construction industry as a professional consultant or Main Contractor.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects through multiple stages of the project lifecycle, including design, procurement, construction and handover.
  • Sound knowledge of project planning, procurement, budgeting, contract administration and risk management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, consultants and contractors.
  • Highly organised with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Motivated, eager learner, uses initiative and a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management, Property, Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Construction or a related field.
