Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

Join the Human Health Research Services Platform at the Liggins Institute and help shape innovative digital solutions that support world-leading health research. As a Full Stack Developer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, testing and supporting secure, scalable web, mobile and cloud-based applications that enable researchers to make a meaningful impact.

Working across the full software development lifecycle, you will collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital products, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and help ensure applications are secure, accessible and fit for purpose

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain websites, web applications, Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), mobile applications and AWS cloud-based solutions.
  • Design and build RESTful APIs and integrations with third-party systems.
  • Implement responsive, accessible and user-friendly interfaces.
  • Support software testing, troubleshooting and defect resolution activities.
  • Ensure applications meet quality, security and accessibility standards.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and user guides.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a fulltime position for fixed term of 24 months

The salary range for this role are $87,000 - $107,500 depending on skills and experience

You are a capable developer who enjoys solving complex problems and creating technology that delivers real-world impact. You thrive in a collaborative environment, communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and bring a strong commitment to quality, security and continuous learning.

You will be comfortable working across both front-end and back-end development, enjoy taking ownership of your work, and be motivated by the opportunity to contribute to innovative health and research-focused projects.

Our ideal candidate will bring:

  • 3 to 5 years' experience in a Full Stack Development role.
  • Strong experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
  • Experience with modern frameworks such as React or similar.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based development, ideally within AWS environments.
  • Experience with relational databases, SQL and RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control tools such as Git.

The Human Health Research Services Platform is hosted by the Liggins Institute and provides a comprehensive range of services to support human health research across the University of Auckland and beyond, including data services, statistical support, health economics, research coordination, follow-up research coordination, digital support, and clinic space and nursing support
