Job Role / Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology, the database administrator position requires a person possessing relevant academic qualifications and experience in the field of computer software support, database administration & management. The Database Specialist is expected to setup & manage databases and enterprise applications to the required performance monitoring / optimization, trouble shooting, backup /recovery, security management etc. You are required to lead database projects whenever required and ensure timely delivery. Good interpersonal skills and adequate oral and written communication skills are essential.

Specifically, you will be responsible to;

• database administration of enterprise applications - effectively manage the performance and troubleshoot any issue that may arise in the existing database systems and enterprise applications
• design & implementing new innovations
• ensure database security and compliance
• communication and knowledge sharing amongst IT Staff
• ensure self and team growth through training.

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering
• minimum 5 years relevant experience in the field of Database administration, Systems and database architecture designing
• strong hands-on experience of MS SQL & Oracle; performing version upgrades, performance monitoring, security management & tuning
• advanced Knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
• understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling
• knowledge of ERP PeopleSoft architecture and implementation
• possess strong hands-on experience on Linux and Microsoft windows servers (Windows 2012, 2016 & 2019, including knowledge of windows failover clusters and high availability
• extensive experience with query tuning and troubleshooting
• working knowledge of data encryption techniques and database querying and management tools
• technical, managerial, analytical, interpersonal and organization skills required
• advance database certification will be preferred
• ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal
• ability to work well with others, as well as independently
• strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a business environment
• ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with co-workers and customers to gain their trust and respect
• ability to professionally deal with difficult people or situations
• ability to pick up technical concepts quickly and can learn new skills and knowledge
• experience working within large and complex technical environments.
