Research Coordinator (HTL Coordinators – TB)

The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality, and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational sections: Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health & climate change, and non-communicable diseases & mental health.

This is a grant funded contractual position.

Responsibilities:

You should be responsible to:

• coordinate with heads of the departments and OPD staff across hospital specialties to facilitate identification of TB presumptive cases
• ensure TB presumptive patients identified in OPDs, and other hospital departments are appropriately linked to the TB Linkage/DOTS Center for screening and diagnosis
• facilitate linkage of presumptive TB patients with laboratory services for required diagnostic testing
• ensure confirmed TB patients are appropriately registered and linked to treatment and free TB medicines
• facilitate completion of relevant TB documentation, including TB-10, and transfer-out of patients to the nearest TB-BMU based on their place of residence
• maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic records of patients facilitated through the HTL system using the designated Android application
• prepare reports for HTL Committee meetings, including analysis of initial loss/default between presumptive identification and registration
• liaise with HTL Committee members and support effective coordination among hospital departments and the TB Linkage Center
• organize HTL Committee meetings and prepare and disseminate meeting minutes
• coordinate with peripheral TB facilities and TB-BMUs for referral and continuity of care
• counsel diagnosed TB patients on treatment adherence and the importance of household contact screening and preventive treatment
• participate in relevant district-level meetings, orientations, monitoring activities, and other project-related activities as required.

Requirements:

You should have:

• Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, Social Sciences, Public Health, or a relevant discipline
• at least five years of relevant experience, preferably in healthcare, public health, TB programmes, or field-based activities
• strong coordination and liaison-building skills
• good communication and patient counseling skills
• basic computer and IT skills, including electronic data entry and record management
• strong management, documentation, and record-keeping skills
• ability to organize and facilitate meetings, orientations, and coordination activities
• ability to work effectively with hospital departments, government health facilities, TB programme teams, and community/field teams
• ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a hospital-based setting.
